The global in-mold label film market is projected to reach at 1.23 Billion USD in 2027, growing at a CAGR of 3.2% CAGR between 2019 and 2027

In-mold label film is a polymer film which is made up of polypropylene (PP) polymers. The in-mold labels are prepared using various techniques. Furthermore, these labels are fused with the molten polymer in the mold and then the label is printed on that film which is further used as label in packaging industry. In-mold label films are designed to provide barrier to light, oxygen, dust and odor. Also, with a transparent look, contents stored in in-mold labeled containers are clearly visible and it thus boosts the consumer experience at the time of consumption.

The food packaging industry is the major industry driving the in-mold label films demand globally. Increasing use and application of in-mold label film in food and beverages, pharmaceutical & personal care, automobile industries is likely to fuel the in-mold label film market during the forecast period. The mounting demand for packaged and branded products and consumer awareness regarding the genuineness of the product is supporting the growth of in-mold label film market globally. Increasing technological advancement is propelling the potential application of in-mold label films in various industries.

Based on types, the global in-mold label film market is segregated into thermoforming, blow molding, and injection molding. Among these, injection molding was the largest use technique to prepare in-mold labels. Its accounted for more than half market share in 2018. Injection Molding is preferred because of the low labor costs, flexibility in the design, high-output production and most importantly, multiple materials can be used at the same time. Blow molding is most common as the blow molding costs are very low as compared to the injection molding. Also, it is very easy to mold the external threads. Making open-ended parts that are large can be done by splitting open a closed molding. Thermoforming is preferred because Low tooling costs due to usually only needing one mold half, the quality of injection molded products but faster, high speed suitable for JIT (just-in-time) production strategy and easier to make larger parts so a wider design scope.

Cosmo Films, Treofan, Taghleef Industries, Innovia Films, Bergen Plastics, AR Metallizing Ltd., Multi-Color Corporation, and among others are the some major players of the global in-mold label film market.
